Institutional Investments
Position: Vice President, Marketing and Sales
The Firm:
Shenandoah Asset Management, L.L.C. is a Richmond, VA based registered investment advisory firm specializing in US equity portfolio management for institutional clients. We employ systematic algorithms driven by purely fundamental factors (earnings, cash flow, valuation and insider transactions) and build risk-controlled portfolios for our clients. The investment team is comprised of former investment officers from the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Currently, the firm manages approximately $260 million.
Job Description:
The candidate will be responsible for the marketing and sales efforts of the firm, including coverage of public and corporate pension funds (ERISA), endowments, foundations, Taft Hartley and other markets. The job will be based in Richmond, VA, and significant travel is expected. Primary duties include:
- Design and implement a sales calling plan for the US institutional market.
- Develop and implement a strategy to expand marketing efforts into large-, mid- and small-size clients.
- Build and manage relationships with investment consultants, pension plans, endowments/foundations, Taft Hartley plans, etc.
- Support all aspects of the sales process, including managing requests for information, marketing content, external consultant databases, etc.
Shenandoah has built an extensive marketing contact database and contact management system. The candidate will have these and other resources at his/her immediate disposal.
Qualifications:
The candidate must have strong business and relationship management skills. In addition, he / she must be able to communicate a sophisticated investment process to the institutional and retail investment communities. Other qualifications include:
- 2-10 years of experience in institutional marketing and sales with a track record of generating revenue;
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills;
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate quantitative, systematic investment processes;
- BS/BA or MBA in Business, Finance, or Marketing (or commensurate experience);
- CFA strongly preferred.
